Support Hollyhock House

Preserving LA’s one-and-only UNESCO World Heritage site is an ongoing effort. Now a century old, Hollyhock House has benefited from the generosity of so many who have shared Aline Barnsdall’s vision for this as a vibrant arts center in Los Angeles. Since 2020, we’ve restored art glass, refreshed finishes, dealt with leaks, and returned original furniture home. We’ve also reinstated a key element of the iconic living room fireplace—its moat bridge. None of this would be possible without community support. Please consider making a donation for the ongoing preservation of Hollyhock House, an internationally celebrated site.

Volunteer

Love spending time at Hollyhock House? If so, please consider becoming a volunteer docent. Hollyhock House welcomes over 40,000 visitors each year, and our docents make this possible by facilitating self-guided and docent-led tours. Applications are accepted year round. Apply now and a staff member will reach out with information about our next training session.

Applicants should:

  • Have an interest in art and architecture
  • Be comfortable speaking to public audiences
  • Be able to commit to a minimum of 2 shifts (2.5 hours each) per month, for a 1-year period
  • Complete the docent training program (5 weeknight classes over 5 weeks)

For questions about our volunteer program, please email hollyhockhouse@lacity.org.
